Hi guys, back with another review of another figma–hopefully, I’ll get this whole review thing right soon enough. Not because you love me or anything, but because I really cannot shut up about toys.
But anyway–here’s Figma 164, or Henrietta, Gunslinger Girl.
Alright, first thing I noticed was that her ribbon here is black–not the red one on the figma. So here’s another picture of her with the red ribbon.
Okay, so a little background about Henrietta–she’s a little girl with a big bad past and now she’s toting guns like Pecos Bill. I’d write down the horrible past, but I’m in shock about it. So. Onto the actual figure.
Henrietta is my third figma, and by now, I realized that not all figmas are created equal. Henrietta’s built is delicate, much like the newer version’s these days. However, considering how clumsy I am, I’d say they’re still as durable. From outside, she has the standard-sized box covered with themes from her anime. Let’s open her up, shall we?
Tada~! That’s a lot of accessories. Here’s the whole list of things that Henrietta comes with: the actual figure, two face plates– really happy and serious, an extra front hair piece without the headband, a gun (doy), a violin case that can hold the gun, a chair, six pairs of hands, a sitting position and two bent-leg positions–aaaand your standard figma stand.
Whew!
Okay, confession time: Between work, playing with toys and what’s left of my social life, that doesn’t leave me much time to watch anime, so I’m not the type of collector that collects what she watches. I’m more of the type that picks up toys on whim, then if it’s interesting enough, I pick up the anime afterwards. So when I was at the store, it was a toss up between Henrietta, Tsuruya-san, uniform ver. and Nagisa Momoe.
However, the sitting/bent legs position and the violin case that holds her gun kind of sealed the deal.
Tada! I mean, how cute is that!?
Anyway. okay, let’s go through our usual standards, ne?
The Paint Job/ le travail de peinture: 10/10
Hohoho~ yes, I’m actually kinda easy to please. Just give me clean lines, no bleeding, and I’m happy with you.
Okay, well, Henrietta’s paint job isn’t that hard, really. I mean, there’s basically five colours on her: auburn, black, gray, skin and red. I don’t know about your figures, if you picked up one, but the paint job on mine is purrrrrrfect. I am extremely picky with paint jobs–and I am happy with hers. That should tell you something. I’m pretty pleased that they also put up a tiny piece of plastic between Henrietta’s white uniform and her red ribbon so the red wouldn’t sully the white. Fantastique!
THE SCULPT/ la sclupture: 10/10
Can you tell that I’m pretty happy about her? You can’t blame me though. Look.
So as I’ve told you, I initially got her because of that bad-ass violin case. However, once I opened it up, I completely fell in love with her. I mean. Look at that face. She’s beautiful. I love how serene and calm it is. AND SHE CAN STAND ON HER OWN–EASILY. As you saw in the previous picture, I put the stand in front of her. She doesn’t need it to stand. I put her to the shaky table test and she stands solidly if you pose her right. That’s pretty amazing.
Okay, now let’s take a look of her from her sides.
Pretty simple figure–I thought she’d be a little boring because she’s so simple, but I’ve come to learn that they look and photograph better because the colors and accouterments don’t distract from the overall figure.
Posing/Playing/Accouterments: 10/10
Honestly, I’m trying to not be overly excited about this figure, but when I started playing with her, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to show you all the poses because there are just so many poses you could do with her, thanks to that sitting position. I’ve already run down the list of parts she comes with, but here’s another photo of them.
Since I showed you how she looks like from all sides while standing up, here she is, sitting down.
She looks very nice and behaved when she’s seated like that, and I love that the sitting position fits perfectly into the chair. Some figmas are hard to seat, but thanks to her sitting position skirt, she can sit pretty.
Here’s another thing I love about her. She can stand WITHOUT THE STAND even when holding her violin case–even with the gun in it. Very well balanced figure right there.
Here’s the gun in the violin case. How. Cool. Is. That. It snaps open and close easily and it looks really elegant.
And now, the squatting position Henrietta’s famous for.
This girl’s squatting position can rival Spidey’s.
Shit’s going down, bro!
The hand’s from another figma–I’m a little surprised that she didn’t come with this pointy-fingered hand type.
Need I say more? The bent lends and the violin case are a deadly awesome combo.
Oh, here’s another cool thing. From the right angle, the sitting position can look like the wind blowing on her skirt. Cute, ne?
All in all, I’m pretty happy about Henrietta. This figma was really amazing, and well done.
